Momentum is gaining in the fight to have the Equal Rights Amendment recognized as having been ratified.

Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney of the Congressional Oversight and Reform Committee just sent out a stunning historical Press Release on the 50th anniversary of Congress approving the ERA and sending it to the States for ratification. The Press Release includes new analyses from prominent legal scholars that conclude the ERA is ratified.

It is time for the Archivist to carry out his statutory duty to certify and publish the ERA as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution. Leading Constitutional Scholars agree that the ERA is ratified AND valid and the timeline in the preamble, which the states did not vote on, is advisory and not binding.

Doomsday Clock remains at 100 seconds to midnight

This year’s Doomsday Clock will remain frozen at 100 seconds to midnight — the closest it has been in its 75-year history to the metaphorical hour of the world’s destruction. Scientists say the clock’s purpose isn’t to precisely measure the global threats but to start conversations on their gravity and what might be done to reduce the dangers.

2022 Legislative Preview

West Side Democrats Team with DPBC
on Issue-Oriented Forums

The WSD and the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County (DPBC) are teaming up to bring a series of issue-oriented forums and events designed to help voters better understand hot button topics.

Programs will focus on Democratic value-oriented ideas as we prepare for the upcoming State Legislature next year. Our focus for December will be a “Legislative Preview”, featuring many West Side legislators.

Meeting Date: December 1, 2021
Business Meeting: 5:30 pm
Panel Discussion: 6:00 pm
