Are you Committed to Vote on June 4th?

PDACNM volunteers Francesca Blueher and Lora Lucero attended the rally at UNM on Thursday, May 30 to urge UNM President Stokes and the Board of Regents to listen to the students’ demands to divest.

If you haven’t voted early, then Tuesday, June 4 is the day to send a message to your elected leaders when you cast your primary ballot. Many are focusing on the top of the ticket, of course, but don’t forget to support the progressive voices up and down the ballot.

Voting Uncommitted is an important way that many Democrats have shared their deep displeasure with President Biden’s support for the genocide in Gaza. A number of states have already held their primaries and the uncommitted vote has earned support in Minnesota 19%, Hawaii 29.1%, Michigan 13%, North Carolina 12.7%, Massachusetts 9.4%, Colorado 8.1%, Washington 7.4%, Iowa 3.9%, Tennessee 7.9% and Alabama 6% are examples.  Check out this hyperlink for information about the uncommitted vote in New Mexico.  Election Info – Vote Uncommitted New Mexico (voteuncommittednm.com)  And this article by Austin Fisher about the Uncommitted campaign in New Mexico. If the uncommitted vote in New Mexico reaches the 15% threshold, the DPNM will be sending at least one delegate to the Democratic Convention in Chicago in August to represent the Uncommitted voters.  Stay tuned!

Why is it so hard to end a genocide?

Israel’s current genocidal campaign in Gaza – considered a plausible genocide by the International Court of Justice – is not complicated, and it’s not about Hamas, either, despite the nearly universal opprobrium repeated in the halls of Congress. Thankfully, many Americans know better. My personal awakening occurred during my first visit to Gaza in 2004.
