Bruce Gagnon is the Coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space. He was a co-founder of the Global Network when it was created in 1992.

Joni Arends, Executive Director of Concerned Citizens for Nuclear Safety (CCNS)

Joni Arends serves as the Executive Director of Concerned Citizens for Nuclear Safety (CCNS), which she co-founded in 1988 to address community concerns about the proposed transportation of radioactive, toxic and hazardous waste from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), through the center of Santa Fe on St. Francis Drive, to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).

Mr. Wilks has been an environmental activist and conservationist working in collaboration with the Sierra Club, the NRDC, the National Wildlife Refuge Service, the city of San Diego, and a region office of the California Air Quality Management District on various military base closures, superfund site clean-ups, and other state environmental legislation issues for 36 years. Currently, he is the Chair of Environmental Committee of the local chapter of Veterans For Peace.

The Democratic Socialists blew the roof off the Nevada Dems and took over the party. How do we progressives, liberals, democratic socialists and lefties do that here in New Mexico?

On March 6, 2021, a coalition of progressive candidates backed by the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America took over the leadership of the Nevada Democratic Party, sweeping all five party leadership positions in a contested election that evening. Judith Whitmer, who had been chair of the Clark County Democratic Party, was elected state chair. Judith will joined us to talk about how an insurgent grassroots effort of dedicated progressives prevailed over the DSCC and the Harry Reid machine.

Hi PDA friends – In our Planning Committee meeting we had a lively conversation about how PDA leadership and members need to better understand the national and local movements toward abolition of racist and destructive policing systems so that we can reimagine public safety that actually cares for ALL our people.

Mayor Keller’s proposed budget for police in 2022 is $223.4Million. What would you do for Albuquerque with that money? Divest from police and prisons, and invest in housing, education, jobs, healthcare, arts and culture. #DefundThePolice.
